proud to be british...

So, the best performance, in the last 30 years (which in my case means the best performance in more than a lifetime) at the Brit Awards is...

The Spice Girls. REALLY? In 30 years, is that really the best we have to offer? The other nominees - or let's be honest, the losers - must be feeling pretty down right now to have lost to a performance containing the immortal line "I wanna, I wanna, I really really really wanna zigazig ah"...

The losers list in full:

Bee Gees - 'Stayin' Alive'/'How Deep Is Your Love'
Bros. - 'I Owe you Nothing'
Coldplay - 'Clocks'
Eurythmics & Stevie Wonder - 'Angel'
Girls Aloud - 'The Promise'
Kanye West - 'Gold Digger'
Kylie Minogue - 'Can't Get You Out of my Head'
Michael Jackson - 'Earth Song'
Paul McCartney - 'Live & Let Die'
Pet Shop Boys - 'Go West'
Robbie Williams & Tom Jones - 'The Full Monty Medley'
Scissor Sisters - 'Take Your Mama'
Take That - 'Beatles Medley'
The Who - 'Who Are You'

a belated update

So people have known for a while now but I have been far too busy to write about it (busy being another word for lazy of course), but the Glasto 2010 headliners are.....

RUBBISH!

Ok, Stevie Wonder would be amazing, and definitely one of those once in a lifetime things, but Muse and U2? No thanks! I know Muse put on a great show, and U2 are legends, etc etc, but they just don't seem like very interesting choices. When Jay Z was announced as a headliner, there was a huge backlash, and a lot of people thought it was a bad decision, but at least it was interesting! And quite brave really, taking a chance on something completely different to what people expect. On the slightly plus side, it's better than another reformed band, as that's been done to death now.

In other good news, Florence, MGMT, and The Cribs are all rumoured, now I just need to decide if I should keep my ticket or not....

the wonderful world of jazz

This is, without a doubt, the best music story I have read this year.

I really want to know what the consequences of listening to 'psychologically inadvisable' music might be...

glastonbury rumours

I love hearing all the rumours of who will play Glastonbury, although slightly less fun is being disappointed when someone you really want to see who was down as a 'strong rumour' turns out to be just a rumour... (Flaming Lips last year, I was so sad.)

Anyway, being the 40th anniversary and all, I imagine the rumour mill will be going into overdrive suggesting every mega-band in the world, including bands who have split up or who have had half their members die. I hope that when the final line-up is actually revealed it wont disappoint, although the signs aren't great at the minute.

But I am going to start my excitement early this year, and will semi-regularly try and update this will all the latest rumours.

Yes!

So far, the only official announcement is that U2 have been confirmed to headline Friday night. Boring!

Maybe!

Muse have told Jonathon Ross that they will 'probably' play.
Brian May has said he'd like to perform with Robert Plant.
Plant said he'd spoken to Michael Eavis about playing, but he didn't know who with.
There are lots of rumours and strong rumours on efestivals.co.uk, but the ones of most excitement to me are Fatboy Slim and the Chemical Brothers, fingers crossed!

No Way!

David Bowie was supposed to be a strong rumour, but has denied it.
Jarvis Cocker has also denied rumours that Pulp will reform to play.

More updates soon, maybe. x

little boots, what a fatty

So, Little Boots is going on a diet because her 'fans' on twitter have been calling her fat. Here she is, in all her flabby glory...

Oh wait. She's absolutely tiny!! Who in their right mind would look at someone like that and call them fat? Which makes me think, is this all some clever(ish) pr stunt, so that we feel sorry for her and buy her records? Obviously if people are being that mean I do feel for her, but it's never going to be enough to make me like her songs...
